How the Course Is Organized
This self-paced course is arranged so that you can move from orientation and foundational reading into fieldwork and final completion requirements in a clear sequence.
Course structure
- Start Here: Course Orientation explains how to use the course and what is expected.
- Units I–IX contain the written and video lessons on reptiles, amphibians, conservation, observation, science, volunteering, and interpretation.
- Fieldwork & Applied Learning is your chance to get outdoors and face-to-face with your local species as well as begin researching your area’s unique conservation concerns.
- Final Exam & Course Completion will contain the verified final assessment and completion instructions.
How to work through it
Work at a pace that fits your schedule. You may revisit lessons, review notes, and return to earlier material as needed. Written lessons are intentionally modular- they all stand by themselves and can be read in a matter of minutes. This means it’s okay to jump around or start and stop easily at any time.
