What you bring outdoors depends on where you are going, what you plan to do, and what you like to carry. Plenty of people enjoy walking a trail with empty pockets and simply watching. Others like a bag of useful things. Either is fine. Whatever else you carry, though, the most important piece of "snakebite gear" is a phone that works and an adult who can drive. A camera. A phone camera is fine. It turns every animal into a record you can keep and share. A field guide.
