One person with a good idea can change a lot, once the idea catches on. Conservationists keep inventing new tools: drones that watch over habitat, live cameras that let millions of people follow an eagle nest, apps that turn everyone's wildlife photos into scientific data. Not every new idea is a good one, of course. Some people argue, for example, that trap-neuter-return programs for outdoor cats leave cats hunting wildlife just as much as before. Good ideas have to be tested. Here is one that is working. At The Herpetology Collective and LEARN, we believe nonnative animals should never be released into the wild, even ones that were caught there, and that includes cats.
This lesson is part of Certified Junior Herpetologist. Enrollment is self-paced, with no deadline to finish (about 30 hours).
