R-6.08: Habitat Management

Updated

What herps and every other animal need is easy to say: leave as much habitat as possible alone, in the biggest connected pieces possible, for as long as possible. Saying it is easy. Doing it is hard. The human population keeps growing, and we do not only take land for houses and roads. We also want the wood, minerals, water, and food that wild places hold. Some of that may be unavoidable. But we should always be looking for ways to take less and damage less. Every place is habitat for something: grassland, desert, mountains, forests, ocean, coastline, and even towns and cities to a degree. Anywhere you see animals living is habitat.
