R-3.06: Miscellaneous Oddities

Updated

Herps are some of the strangest animals on Earth. Every sentence below is true. There is a snake with a tail that looks like a spider, and it wiggles the "spider" to lure birds close enough to catch. There is a lizard that cannot sink, even standing on water in the rain. Snakes and many lizards smell with their tongues. One frog, probably extinct now, would switch off its stomach acid and swallow its own eggs so the tadpoles could grow safely inside her stomach. There is a toad that curls into a ball and rolls down the mountain when startled. Some horned lizards squirt blood from their eyes to startle predators.
