F-2.01: Wildlife Journaling (Junior Herpetologist)

F-2.01: Wildlife Journaling

Updated

Fieldwork activity. About 30 minutes to set up, then a few minutes each time you go out. A photo tells you what an animal looked like. A journal tells you the story around it: the time, the weather, what the animal was doing, what else was nearby, and the questions you wondered about. That story is what makes an observation useful later, to you and to scientists. Your journal can be anything that works for you: a paper notebook, a notes app, a spreadsheet, a photo album with captions, or even voice recordings. The only rule is that you can find things in it later. Set up your journal now.
