R-7.17: Irresponsible Handling of Venomous Snakes

Updated

If you still imagined snakes as evil creatures waiting to attack, this lesson might not make sense. But you know better now. Snakes want the same things other animals want: food, water, shelter, a mate. So maybe it is not so surprising that you can find videos online of people lounging on the couch with a pet cobra, or picking up a rattlesnake barehanded to move it off a road. Are there people who have handled venomous snakes with no tools and no protection and never been hurt? Sure. There are also people who have driven for years without a crash. The question is where reasonable risk ends and recklessness begins.
