Plenty of people will swear a snake chased them. Some say a snake chased them down the street while they rode a bike, or chased them to the car and lunged at the windows, or followed them into the house and struck at the door. If those stories sound ridiculous, it is because they are. When naturalists say snakes do not chase people, we are not saying a snake has never moved toward a person. We are saying snakes do not see people as food and are not trying to catch us. Moving in your direction is not the same as chasing you.
