Someone with a promising idea can really make a difference when that idea catches on. More and more, conservationists are coming up with new ways to achieve their goals. Examples include drones to monitor wildlife and habitat, live camera feeds to get the public invested in the rearing of eagle hatchlings, encouraging people to upload their wildlife photos into citizen science databases... the list goes on. New and better techniques arise all the time. Unfortunately, sometimes bad ideas also catch on, like Trap-Neuter-Return programs that return domestic cats to the landscape — where un-owned cats account for most of an annual toll estimated at 1.3 to 4.0 billion birds and 6.3 to 22.3 billion mammals in the United States alone.
