Thoughts about when we should or should not interfere with wildlife in distress As a wildlife rehabilitator and conservation educator, the mantra to “let nature take its course” comes up quite often regarding animals in various predicaments. On the surface, that is all fine and good. I would just like to caution folks about misapplying this platitude. Noninterference is an excellent policy if correctly applied to natural interactions. I instruct callers on a daily basis to refrain from intervening in animal’s lives. I understand people’s desire to help, but without the proper experience, we often do more harm than good.
